About the Artist
Esteban Pérez Palma

A legacy carved
in form and light

Esteban Pérez Palma was born in Málaga in 1945, into a family where art was not a choice but an inheritance. The nephew of master religious sculptor Francisco Palma Burgos, and grandson of Francisco Palma García, he grew up surrounded by craft, ambition, and the discipline of making things that last.

Trained at the School of Arts in Málaga, he went on to live and work in Andújar, Madrid, and Switzerland, where he taught Fine Arts. He eventually returned to the south of Spain, settling in Alhaurín de la Torre, where his studio remains today. His public works include the monumental sculpture Alegoría del Mar, and the 11 square metre mural Armonía — painted in acrylic on gold and silver leaf — which presides over a restaurant in Torremolinos.

His figures float. Naked, weightless, infinite — he describes them as butterflies, suspended between earth and eternity.
